CONquest 2008

Once again, I joined the variety show competition of our CON days this year. Usually, I'd participate yearly in the dance & volleyball activities. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play volleyball due to some misunderstandings. Since a lot of people wanted to join, that person didn't even think of conducting try-outs to select the players best to compete in the game. Forget it. It's better to not join knowing that your teammates are not selected right or join the team that's nonsense. It's a good thing I chose not to join anymore. Pity, they lost. But what the heck, my sister's team won champion for the first time (women's division). Congrats.=)

At least I joined the variety show. And dancing is one thing I like to do. It's like what I say, "College wouldn't be that fun if I don't participate in dancing or volleyball." Well, that's aside from studying. That's a good way to relax and mingle with your fellow batchmates. Anyway, reminiscing to our practice days, we practiced for 2 weeks prior to the competition day. We even had to practice on our 3 days of CON days and had an overnight the day before the competition. We even had practice a few hours before the variety show would start. But, aside from the checking of attendance, it has been fun, not like the fun I had last year, but just "okay" fun. I uploaded photos in my multiply account. Just click here to view the photos.

So, here's a recap of the 3 days:

9/15

AM-Noon: There was the motorcade, parade of colors, opening of SportsFest & CONquest 2008, and the awaited Cheerdance Competition, wherein the 4th year Red Dragons won 1st place, followed by the 2nd year Green Crocs.

PM: They had the part I of Mr.&Ms.Nursing '08 by being ramp models, along with previous Mr.&Ms.Nursing winners, and some CIs. This was followed by the acoustic battle of the bands. Congrats to one of my NCM104 Lecturers (Dr.Andrey Logan) for winning.

9/16

AM-Noon: Continuation of SportsFest.

PM: Part II of Mr.&Ms.Nursing '08 was held today. And one of my classmate won 1st runner-up. Congrats Tinay!

9/17

AM-Noon: Last day of SportsFest.

PM: This is the day we performed for the variety show competition. We performed a ballet/hip-hop theme since our movie theme was Step Up. Damn how I love the energy when I perform. It's like I give it all I've got on the dancefloor! I just wish studying would be that exciting (that's another story). Anyway, we won 2nd place (again). But that's okay though the judges said we should've won but we lack props compared to the other year level who had A LOT of props and had a pre-victory party. Man, they were so confident they'd win. And they actually won - as over-all champion.

Well, CON days was okay and competitive in a way. This was a good way for us nursing students to get to know each other by bonding through different activities. This is surely my last experience of participating in CON days.

good game Lakers. and a big congrats to Celtics.

For the 17th time in franchise history, the Boston Celtics are NBA Champions.

"After the game, Paul Pierce was named Finals MVP. He had a modest outing in Game 6, but stood out plenty in the previous five games to deserve the honor. Pierce averaged 21.8 points and 6.3 assists per game as he, Garnett and Allen captured the first NBA titles of their long, accomplished, respective careers."

Being a fan of the Lakers since elemtary, I was disappointed by their gameplay. Who wouldn't right? Lakers have been winning ever since I became a fan of their team, ever since Kobe and Shaq were still the duo hardcore of Lakers. You know, if Lakers were to win this year's title, it would've been Kobe Bryant to be MVP. But again, their team lost by 39 points in Game 6. It's not about Kobe Bryant this time, it's about the whole team, not doing that good enough to prove that they can win this year's title against Boston Celtics (with Keven Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce on this team).

Anyway, that's just what I think. Now back to the topic, it was a final score of 131-92. A 39 point lead from the Celtics. Wow. Well, even though the Lakers didn't win this year's title, I'm still a Lakers fan. There's still next year. Go Lakers! And a Big Congratulations to Boston Celtics for a great game against the LA Lakers this season hehe =)

go Lakers!!=)

Lakers won game 5 vs. Celtics with a score of 103-98. Both teams are good. But I'm a Lakers fan since elementary, where Kobe and Shaq were still the hardcore duo of Lakers. Somehow, I believe that the Lakers will make it to game 7.

Ok, enough with the drama. Now for game 6, this may be one of the advantages of the Celtics' due to the game which will be held at their homecourt at Boston.

At the very least, there is a game 6. Now I can't wait to watch game 6 haha

Go Lakers!!=)

* Other photos of Lakers vs. Celtics: Game 5 can be found here.

Lakers won Game 3 of NBA Finals 87-81

"Somewhere in the mess of an NBA Finals game, after the fouls finished stacking up alongside the airballs and missed free throws, a clear, indelible image finally emerged. The Lakers weren't dead yet.

It sure looked as if they were done, but it was merely a deception, an illusion, as Phil Jackson might call it, the Lakers answering three uninspired quarters with a lasting fourth-quarter push in an 87-81 Game 3 victory Tuesday at Staples Center." - NBA.com

Lakers won Game 3 with a score of 87 versus Celtics who lost by 6 points with a score of 81. Pretty tight game. But I knew the Lakers would rise up after losing Game 2. Can't wait for Game 4 haha Go Lakers!! =)

Congrats to the 2 David's of American Idol Season 7

Yey for the 2 David's for reaching the Top 2 ranks of American Idol Season 7. I'm a fan for almost all the finalists haha. Actually, there are a lot of good competitors this season. It was a good competition and aside from the voters, I'm sure Randy, Paula, and Simon had a difficult time with predicting who will be the winner as well.

Although I like both David Archuleta and David Cook, I had a difficult time predicting who would win since they had both great voices. I was actually voting for David Cook when it was the 2 of them left. David Archuleta is still young, he's also good in singing ballads, but I think he still has a lot of potential when he gets older. And for David Cook, it's good that he had the opportunity to win American Idol Season 7. From a bartender to an American Idol winner. Wow! I'd vote for David Cook because he had a way with songs. What I meant is that I love how he revives songs and make it his own version hehe =) David Archuleta does it well with ballads too. This is just what I think of them.

Nevertheless, I like them both and I congratulate both the David's for having a great competition.

Carry your computer in your pocket.

Tom Merritt, Executive Editor of CNET TV (Insider Secrets), shows how to carry your applications and settings on a USB Flash Drive instead of carrying around your laptop. He provided some websites such as:

* Portable Applications
* Portable Freeware
* U3
* Ceedo

He also mentioned TrueCrypt, that lets you encrypt your files in your USB.

Here's a review summary of what I think:

Pros:
+ Portable Applications and TrueCrypt is free to use.
+ You don't need to install anything to any computer.
+ Useful for people who don't want to bring their bulky laptop wherever they go.
+ You can use your iPod, MP3/MP4 players, anything that can store data - provided they can be read as a hard drive on any computer.

Cons:
- Not all your applications and settings will be carried over.
- U3 and Ceedo has a limit. You will be prompted to pay if you want the full application.
